The owners personal description is as follows
Our paradisiac farm in Gutierrez Braun, near San Vito, Coto Bus, at an altitude of 1250
mts (4100 ft) consists of 20.5 hectares of gently sloping land with stunning
panoramic views to the Talamanca Mountains. In the outskirts of la Amistad
International Park, the largest national Park of Costa Rica, the farm offers
unmatched biodiversity with daily visits of wildlife. Birds and butterflies are a
constant in the garden!
Currently some 6 hectares are being used for coffee production. There is plenty of
room to expand the coffee production or to cultivate other crops. 7.5 ha are of
pasture for horses, cattle, goats, sheep... 5 ha are of primary forest. The farm is
bordered by a river and there are freshwater springs that originate within the
perimeter of the farm. The climate is very agreeable, cooler than the coast because
of the elevation and with breezes throughout the day.
On top of a hill, there are 5 wooden cabins (with plenty of room to build more): 3
are composed of 1 bedroom, a living room / kitchenette, bathroom and closet. The
fourth is a central living area with tv room, dining area and kitchen, a laundry room,
a bathroom and a large storage room. The fifth is composed of bedroom, bathroom
and closet. All have large glass windows overlooking the mountain and are
surrounded by a tropical garden with daily visits from different species of bird and
wildlife. There is an open lovely barbecue area with table to dine out and a
hammock to relax while observing the birds. There is also a covered parking area.
There are good internet, ICE electric and Sky TV.
The property has a live-in caretaker and extra rooms for the coffee pickers that
arrive for 3-4 months each year to help with the harvest.
We produce a high-altitude specialty coffee that reconciles its quality with
agricultural sustainable practices protecting the environment and the beauty of
the nature that surrounds us. These values compelled us to participate in the
following programs:`Protección del Bosque, ´Reforestación de Árboles en sistemas
Agroforestales` (FONAFIFO), NAMA (Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions) and AmistOsa
