Traveling from the center of San Vito towards Sabalito a couple of miles, and just past the unused (no commercial flights) airstrip, we were pleasantly surprised at the convenience and quality of construction we encountered. For whatever reason I’ve noticed in the past this route (heading towards Sabalito) always appeared like the sun shown more, the homes lining the main highway were newer, and there is a feeling of neatness, the homes in this area reflect an upper middle class, I’ve assumed the people living in this area may hold better positions of employment, their homes were always neat and tidy, simple and clean, combined with more sunshine, this area near San Vito ‘just feels good’, a bit of ‘Pleasantville’ if you know what I mean. Remember, it’s more about the ‘feel’ rather than the ‘deal’. The best deal in the worst area, will eventually erode and become meaningless.
Even though the neighboring house on one side appeared a bit too close for comfort, we realized afterwards that the main living area, the views, and recreational point of focus were on the opposite side of the house, the parking area was nearest to that neighbor.
As we entered a door on the right-hand side of the house, we were pleasantly surprised at what we encountered, there was a small home-based retail clothing outlet that, just guessing, had better quality clothes than anything I had observed in town. I’m not a ‘name brand’ kinda guy, but if I was, this would be the place I’d shop. The owner would make her trips to Miami to make her purchases (which is a common practice I’ve come to realize in Latin American countries) and offered her products here to her select clientele, the reflection of the owner’s tidiness in her shop carried on throughout the property.
We realize a future buyer may not follow suit with the same concept, but the area with a very modern half-bathroom could surely use this area as a commercial office or convert into a studio apartment or Airbnb rental, it even opened to a wonderful, covered patio with awesome views on the opposite side of the house. So not only is there one rental opportunity, but this would be the second. Receiving guests and renting is a perfect way to stay in Costa Rica when looking for opportunities for an income stream. Digital Nomad style!
The Pictures pretty much describe the rest of the house, neat and tidy, modern and new. None of the bedrooms were huge, but then again, they are for sleeping, the master bedroom was the only one with a private bathroom, the other serviced the main house.
The second house, the rental? Is closer to the main road but sat down so there was a ‘berm’ which would act as a noise buffer from any traffic and again the main living area opened to the view and gardens, it is around 500 square feet (50 m2) with two bedrooms and one bath, concrete prefabricated, tiled floors, ceiling and with all public services.
We didn’t have the time to view the gardens and green house, near future visit is planned and we’ll update with a photo, the green area between the homes is loaded with trees and fruit, stay tuned!
The homes were built 8 years ago.
San Vito is located at 3000 feet altitude, two hours from the Pacific coast
San Jose is about a five hour drive.
